ARCHITECT | STARK ARCHITECTURE

Entertaining, relaxing and outdoor activity are the predominant elements characterizing this build and design.

The high elevations and long cold winters of the Canadian Rockies provided the backdrop for this home away from home. A tranquil environment and stunning scenery inspired the thoughtful design by Stark Architecture. Being in a remote location gave credence to using a prefabricated system to reduce travel and transportation of staff and materials. CLT and wood fibre complete the passive building envelope, and provide a rich and subtle finish to the interior. Bold lines, and materials for forest fire mitigation finished the exterior, hiding the delicate finishes inside.

A modest sized home away from home provide a place of tranquility and respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Entertaining, relaxing and outdoor activity are the predominant elements characterizing this build and design. The emphasis on passive was to avoid sub-zero temperatures, freezing water lines, and a dramatic reduction on maintenance. Building and design in this manner ensure that work and maintenance would not be the activity of choice. The portrait of relaxation and quality time with friends and family would be the fabled past time.
